Your Social Media Audience Does Not Belong to You (Start Doing This Now)
Helping you avoid the mistakes I've made so that you can focus on what matters for your business
Not too long ago I was presented with a random email notification on my phone as I was talking to my girlfriend. It was from đť•Ź (formerly known as Twitter).
It caught me off-guard for a moment, so I pulled up to my desktop to see if it was really true.
Sure enough, it really happened.
When was I even trying to evade suspension? This is the one account I have…
This had me confused as to how this could have happened. I thought I was being a good noodle in the digital realm; doing what I thought was right. Even so, my account got flagged, and here we are today: đť•Ź-less.
I later submitted an appeal because I had a feeling that they falsely suspended me, but the decision is ultimately up to them, even if I wasn’t using it for malicious intent.
While I wait for them to respond, this got me thinking…
You don’t own anything on social media, especially not your followers.
Even if my appeal gets approved (fingers crossed), I cannot guarantee that will happen. The social media overlords are the judge, jury and executioner when it comes to your account.
This was something I was aware of months back, but never took seriously. I wouldn’t have imagined something like this would happen to me, but here we are.
Despite all this, I know I must keep moving forward. I can’t just let this affect my growth in business.
Not long after, I would transform this predicament into the catalyst for my business.
